Microsoft Plans Windows 11 Fixes and Fewer Copilot Prompts

Windows 11 may finally get a quality-first reset. Microsoft’s Windows & Devices lead Pavan Davuluri says upcoming Insider builds will focus on performance, reliability, and “craft,” instead of adding more clutter. The plan includes faster File Explorer behavior, smoother navigation, and fewer frustrating slowdowns people keep complaining about.

Microsoft also admits Copilot has shown up in too many places. The company says it will become more intentional about where Copilot appears and will remove “unnecessary” Copilot entry points across several built-in apps.

Less Copilot Noise Across Built-In Apps

Microsoft says it will start trimming Copilot entry points in apps like Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad. Copilot won’t vanish, but Windows should stop feeling like it’s constantly trying to funnel you into the same AI button.

    More Control Over Windows Updates

Updates are also getting less pushy. Microsoft says users will gain options like:

    • skipping updates during device setup
    • restarting or shutting down without forcing an update
    • pausing updates for longer
    • seeing fewer restarts and update nags overall

Taskbar and Widgets Get Real Customization Again

Microsoft also plans to bring back taskbar repositioning (top or sides, not just bottom). Widgets will get quieter defaults and more control over how and when they appear, plus better personalization for the Discover feed.

    Eco-friendly SEO angle

These changes can reduce “digital waste.” Faster File Explorer and better memory efficiency mean less background churn and fewer repeated retries, which can lower power use over time—especially on 8GB systems. Fewer forced updates also prevents unnecessary restarts and idle processing.
