Segway’s Navimow H5 Pro Robot Mower Adds a Trapdoor for Edge Trimming

Segway unveiled the Navimow H5 Pro at IFA 2026, a robot mower that combines LiDAR, NRTK satellite positioning, and three vision cameras for navigation. Like several other robot mowers shown at the event, the Navimow H5 Pro tackles the long-standing challenge of true edge trimming by bringing its cutting mechanism directly against walls, fences, and sidewalks.

A Different Take on Edge Cutting

Rival brands such as Eufy and Mammotion rely on articulating arms to reach tight edges on models like the Lawn Mower S2 Max and the Luba A4 AWD. Segway takes a different route: the Navimow H5 Pro opens a side trapdoor that lets its circular mowing disc extend outward and cut flush against edges. A Segway representative at IFA explained that the company chose this design because string trimmers tend to run noisy and cut less efficiently than a blade disc, and because the trapdoor mechanism produces a more even edge.

Familiar Features From the Navimow X4 Series

The Navimow H5 Pro carries over several traits from Segway’s existing X4 lineup. All-wheel drive and independently rotating “Xero-Turn” front wheels let the mower pivot in place on its back wheels. That setup made the Navimow X4 gentler on lawns than the Dreame A3 AWD Pro, whose omnidirectional front wheels sometimes left bald patches. The new model can also climb slopes of up to 80%, cross obstacles as tall as 6 centimeters, and drive each of its four wheels independently.

    Smarter Navigation and Obstacle Detection

Three onboard vision cameras help the Navimow H5 Pro navigate and spot obstacles, while an infrared sensor detects small animals, even in the dark. Built-in NRTK satellite navigation removes the need to install a separate RTK antenna on the lawn. The addition of LiDAR further distinguishes the H5 Pro from the X4 series, reducing its dependence on satellite signal and making it a more versatile option overall.

    No U.S. Launch Date Yet

Segway has not announced a U.S. release timeline for the Navimow H5 Pro, following the pattern set by other robot mowers unveiled this year. The FCC’s ban on foreign-made robotic devices currently blocks these products from entering the American market, so pricing details also remain unavailable.
