The Qalo SL-1 Smart Band is a new wrist wearable that tracks your health without a screen or a monthly fee. Qalo, known for its subscription-free smart ring, just announced the band as a partner to its SR-2 Smart Ring. Together, the two devices let you choose how you wear your tracker throughout the day.
What Is the Qalo SL-1 Smart Band?
The SL-1 is a small, rectangular sensor pod that sits on your wrist. It looks much like the Whoop 5.0 and Garmin’s Cirqa, two other screenless trackers. You can attach it to silicone or fabric straps, depending on your style.
Qalo says the band resists water at depths of roughly 30 feet. The company also claims a battery life of more than 12 days per charge. However, independent reviews still need to confirm both numbers.
For people who like minimalist wearables, the design makes sense. Without a display, nothing distracts you from your day.
Health Data the SL-1 Tracks
The band covers all the basics you would expect from a modern health tracker. It monitors:
- Sleep
- Movement
- Blood-oxygen levels
- Heart rate and heart rate variability
- Stress
- Skin temperature
- Menstrual cycles
Qalo then turns this information into a daily “Q Score,” a quick snapshot of your health that day. The app also predicts menstrual cycles and detects workouts automatically. Best of all, none of it requires a subscription.
How the Band Works With the SR-2 Smart Ring
The biggest selling point is the pairing with the SR-2 ring. Both devices feed the same health profile. As a result, you can swap one for the other without losing any data.
Qalo has a clear picture of how people might use them. The ring suits most of the day, and it may feel more comfortable at night. The band, on the other hand, fits intense workouts and tasks where you need free hands and fingers.
A Strategy Other Brands Already Use
Qalo is not alone in this approach. Samsung suggests wearing its Galaxy Ring alongside a Galaxy Watch. The ring works independently, but it shines when you want to avoid a large screen on your wrist.
Google’s Fitbit Air could play a similar role for Pixel Watch owners. Qalo may not match Samsung or Google in hardware and software polish. Still, its lower prices give it a real advantage.
Qalo SL-1 Price: Two Devices for About the Cost of an Apple Watch
The SL-1 Smart Band and the SR-2 Smart Ring each cost $200. Buying both therefore costs about the same as an Apple Watch Series 12. For anyone who wants to collect as much health data as possible, that price is easier to accept.
